Further on into more densely wooded parts of Oldbury
Court Estate reveals this rather unusual water feature. I can only guess
because I am not quite sure that the narrowing of the concrete channel forces
the water to flow more quickly through the narrow gap, and also makes the river
build up behind - I have read that this is a water measuring device. Two
contrasting images - dry summer and wet winter - you can see the difference in
height of water.
