To facilitate the functioning of a mill's waterwheel
there has to be a weir to create the power from the falling water - these are 2
contrasting views of the weir next to the old Snuff Mill - on the left, due to a spell of dry
weather the river Frome is quiet and hardly any water is flowing over the
weir - on the right, after heavy wintry rain, the river is swollen.
