MARTYN'S MIX - CHAMONIX 2000 PHOTOS 1

We're all going on a summer holiday - no more working for a week or two. Here is a VERY happy looking Gazza Lewis who is absolutely over the moon that he is going on holiday to the wonderful French Alps and Chamonix.

Pete does not look very happy here at the start of our holiday. But actually he was just doing the blinking/swallowing type of thing so I suppose it is quite difficult to smile at that point! Pete is always excited about going to Chamonix.

Come on then - get the next round in. On the ferry here and I think Gaz is trying to tell us something - Gaz likes his beer!

Oh this is my reaction to the bad evening I had in Cherbourg. I managed to leave my backpack on the bus from the ferry port to the town centre! It had my holiday money in it plus my video and digital cameras - what a prize plonker I truly am! I tried to chase after the bus but it got away from me - then I got lost in the back streets of Cherbourg and even managed to fall over in the road at one point. After 3 hours I managed to get it back from the ferry port after being grilled with loads of questions - it was a great start to the holiday - NOT!!!!!

Pete reflects on the problems we encountered at the start of the holiday. I also managed to leave a fleece jacket on one of the trains taking us to Chamonix - I never got that back - my memory is slipping, it really is.

You cannot fail to be impressed by the mountain scenery in the French Alps - this is a view of the highest mountain in the range, Mont Blanc at 4807 metres. The Bosson Glacier is in the centre of the photo.
